Tending to Today, Growing for Tomorrow

Never in my life did I think that “one day, I'm gonna run for office.” During COVID, there were people in office who didn’t represent Coralville in the way that the community deserved and the community pushed back.

At the time, several friends and others from the community suggested I run. When they asked, I answered. I answered to give others a greater voice in the community and to help Coralville thrive. I am proud to continue lifting up those voices and to continue serving my community as a Coralville City Council Member!

My name is Hai Huynh (pronounced Hi Huh-WIN) and I am asking for your help in seeking re-election to the Coralville City Council!

Policy Priorities

Parks and Trails

Upgrading our infrastructure would be a major step forward, not only for safety, but also for the way Coralville looks and feels. Sidewalks, bike trails, and natural spaces will make our community more connected and more welcoming. I’m committed to ensuring residents have access to open, easily accessible community spaces.

New Recreation Center

A new rec center will be a huge step forward for Coralville! Our current facility is over 50 years old and costly to maintain. The proposed center will feature a three-court gym, walking track, community rooms, fitness spaces, and two natatoriums with three pools. This project will be a vibrant hub for health and connection, and I’m proud to support it!

Real Affordable Housing

Local Strength and Control

Eliminating Hunger

Coralville needs more truly affordable housing. Affordability isn’t one-size-fits-all—it means making sure everyone can live here comfortably. Stable housing is the foundation for opportunity, shaping health, work, and education. By investing in housing, we invest in our people and strengthen Coralville for everyone: workers, families, seniors, and local businesses alike.

Coralville should have the power to make decisions that best serve the needs of our community. I’ll continue advocating for our right to make local choices and ensure our community can grow and thrive on our own terms. I’m committed to providing city staff with the resources they need to deliver high-quality services, including adding positions like an Assistant Communications Manager and GIS staffer to improve efficiency and capacity.

I want to make meaningful strides to truly reduce hunger in Coralville. In my work with the Coralville Community Food Pantry I see our neighbors struggling everyday while our federal and state governments are making it harder for people in Coralville to feed themselves. Resources - once dedicated toward feeding kids - are being cut and cut. We deserve better and I'm dedicated to fighting for the right to food for all those living in Coralville!
