COVID Recovery

The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated our community in many ways. In our quest to “return to normal,” we must prioritize tangible and robust relief for our neighbors who have been hit the hardest. A COVID Recovery plan will ensure that Coralville and the greater Johnson County community returns to a better normal in the months and years ahead. This will include:

• Prioritizing American Rescue Plan funds to support:

  • Workers excluded from past and ongoing federal and state relief

  • Mortgage and rental assistance

  • Social service agencies

  • Small businesses

• Rent & utility assistance

  • Provide assistance for Coralville residents applying for Iowa Rent & Utility Assistance Program via Coralville Public Library and various community organizations

  • Establish a sliding scale City utility discount program

• Ensuring equitable vaccine rollout through communication & collaboration

• Emphasizing importance of mask-wearing in large public settings
