Racial & Economic Justice
Coralville is Johnson County’s most diverse community, but inequality still abounds. A Racial & Economic Justice plan will take action to ensure that all who call Coralville home can live safe, healthy, and dignified lives regardless of race or class.
This will include:
Supporting the new citizen-led police review board to ensure it grows into a functional, action-focused commission.
Increased financial support for vital community resources like social service agencies, nonprofits, and community groups working to reduce poverty, racism, violence, and injustice.
Leading by example and committing to a living wage for all City of Coralville employees and vowing to contract only with businesses/entities that do the same.
Funding countywide efforts to support businesses owned by Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and other people of color who call Coralville home.
