Racial & Economic Justice

Coralville is Johnson County’s most diverse community, but inequality still abounds. A Racial & Economic Justice plan will take action to ensure that all who call Coralville home can live safe, healthy, and dignified lives regardless of race or class.
This will include:

  • Supporting the new citizen-led police review board to ensure it grows into a functional, action-focused commission.

  • Increased financial support for vital community resources like social service agencies, nonprofits, and community groups working to reduce poverty, racism, violence, and injustice.

  • Leading by example and committing to a living wage for all City of Coralville employees and vowing to contract only with businesses/entities that do the same.

  • Funding countywide efforts to support businesses owned by Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and other people of color who call Coralville home.
